On April 13th the Greek Parliament passed a law for the granting of residence permit to third country nationals who have acquired or are about to acquire real estate in Greece amounting to 250.000 and over. It is a permit valid for 5 years with option to renew.  Additionally, the law authorization concerns owners of companies that own real estate in Greece, of the amount of 250.000 euro and over, provided that they prove they are the owners. The permit does not confer the right to work or obtain Greek nationality, but provides the right for the members of the owner’s family to also obtain a residence permit. Attracting foreign investors is very important to the Greek Government.
